I am a lover of Margaret Truman's books. This one did mot disappoint me. It is amazing how much knowledge she absorbed about the White House pets. Great book
Very fast read. Needs more details on the pets. It would be better if the pets were listed in order that that lived in th White House.
I just don't like Margaret Truman's style of writing.
I would recommend this book to anyone who especially loves dogs. It truly touches your heart. Margaret Truman is able to bring you right into the book with her. I like that.
Interesting to always see history from various viewpoints...pets on parade through the Whitehouse might be the most different. While some Pets did seem to be definitely pets and brought the nation together as a Family. Other pets that were on more excotic side brought in the interesting side. The question of what do with the rambunctious or overabundance seemed to pop-up as an often asked question. Always enjoy Margaret Truman's writings.
Margaret has done better work. It was a little dry but informative. The animals that have lived in and around the White House have been many and varied. I expected more amusing stories about the animals.
Having enjoyed Margaret Truman's book about courageous women, I eagerly purchased this book. I was not disappointed. This book offers an insider's perspective on pets in the Executive Mansion. Wonderful stories comprise the chapters that follow no particular order. A bibliography would be nice, or citations for the direct quotes, but those were not included.
